David Ortiz Awake In Boston After Surgery Following Dominican Shooting

On Monday night, former Boston Red Sox all-star David Ortiz, was awake and stable after undergoing surgery in Boston for wounds suffered after he was shot in the Dominican Republic, according to his Wife. He is expected to remain in the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital for the next few days
According to Reuters, on Sunday evening, Ortiz was shot in the torso on at a nightclub in Santo Domingo, the capital of his native Dominican Republic.
Ortiz underwent a first round of surgery in Santo Domingo before being flown to Boston. Ortiz is a hero in Boston for his role in three World Series championships and for his motivational remarks in the days after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
